Oil

5W-20. My Triton engines have a lot more miles than that and the 5W-20 oil still works just fine with almost no oil consumption.
I would use 5w20 MotorCraft synthetic blend which is available at your local Walmart, Ford dealership and local auto parts retailers. The price is best at Walmart. I have been using this oil for years without issue and curently run it in my 2004 Mercury Marauder, 2014 Lincoln 3.7 AWD MKZ and my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. Also I recommend using a MotorCraft oil filter available at the same places listed above. I would avoid any oil filter that is made by Fram. Change your oil every 5,000 miles or 1 year if driving in stop and go traffic or making frequent trips under 10 miles. If you drive a lot on the highway, change the oil every 7,500 miles or 1 year.
Fram filters are good as long as they are not orange. Millions of miles on my engines with mostly Fram filters without a single oil related issue.
Fram filters may never cause an issue, but their design of using paper end caps is poor in my opinion. I do use their air filters, but I will not use their oil filters.
With that many miles i would be using a 0w-30

I agree royal purole is the best and it gets u the longest miles in between oil changes. I had a old suburban with a 350 and all I used was royal purple and even when I would go over my regular oil change it would still be purple and not black it's the best stuff out there. I swear by royal purple.
I must be doing everything wrong? I have a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis with 272000+ miles and I use non synthetic 10W30 oil and sometimes with Resiinol ( yellow bottle)additive. Uses under a qt. Of oil between changes. I reside in the San Diego Area so no cold weather.
Mark, the old 4.6 was a pretty good engine if properly serviced.
Had 1998,2000 town car, had 2004 crown victoria,. Run as taxicabs averaging 2000 miles a week. Used the cheapest 10w30 conventional oil. Engines still ran even at 475,000. My cousins 1997 lincoln towncar cab engine finally gave in at 550,000. My 1989,1991,2000 grand marquis ill use 10w30 conventional. My 2007 grand marquis at 65k miles, ill use 5w20 conventional. Point is, these cars can run with conventional. Thing is that as long as oils changed at correct intervals. I use 2500 mile/ or 4 month. Synthetic blend not required for this car model.
The newer Fram filters have synthetic media rather than the old style cardboard and their filtration specs are outstanding.
