Alternator. Your alternator is miss behaving. Change up the battery real good first if you have to use the Chevy to pick up a replacement. Let me know if you have a Advanced Auto Parts Store near you.

I do have an advanced auto nearby. I charged the battery but the truck engine dies as soon as I let off the gas. It will not idle at all. I bought the battery in March 2014. So, its the altenator??

So its cranking right up then or do you have to jump it every time? How long are you letting the truck run before removing your foot from the gas peddle?

Yes, it cranks up now. I drove it 14 miles to get it home. (Never letting off the gas), got it in the yard. It will still crank, but a have to keep it accelerated or it will die. The voltage meter will not get above 12.

Hhhhmmmmmm....... I would go have the alternator checked and make sure the gauge in the truck is correct. That will either find your problem or eliminate it.

Thank you so much. One other thing is happening. I just went out and cranked the truck again. My interior lights come on, no problem, then they get super bright. Any significance there??

Sounds like the voltage regulator in the alternator. Let us know what happens after you get it looked at.

Glad that's all it was. That is normal maintenance on a 11 year old vehicle.

I'm having the same problem. I changed the alternator, bought a new battery, changed the oil and it is still doing the same thing. What could be the problem, any suggestions?

Throttle position sensor, throttle plate(butterfly) if it's dirty clean it with carb cleaner, fuel pressure regulator. When is the last time it had spark plugs and wires put on? They those things if you already got a new battery and alternator.

Hey. I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado. I'm have the same problem. My truck will start and run if I give it throttle. We replaced the egr and the maps sensor and temp sensor. They all helped but the problem is still there.
