Coolant leak underneath the back of the engine
My 03 expedition 5.4L will not hold coolant, its leaking
from underneath the back of the engine. I use my
garden hose to fill the reservoir with water to see
exactly where it was coming from, and it just leak out
the back underneath. Not sure exactly where. Any
suggestions as to were the leak might be
Nice one Tom I was going to suggest the same. TK, Make sure the engine is thoroughly degreased in the back, as well as the firewall. This will help you find leaks more easily. good luck.

I surely would like to know since this is the EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING .. I just don't know what to do , except try and find the culprit and pray it doesnt cost a single mother ALOT of money
I am dealing with a similar issue. I can't seam to find the source of the leak other than it is from the back of the engine block. I just noticed however their is coolant on top of the engine too. Maybe it is leaking on the top somewhere and just leaking down the back of the engine?
My '14 Expedition (5.4) did this very thing today. Seemed to be leaking from the back, however, coolant leaks from the underside of the thermostat housing/top of water pump and blown by the fan onto the top of the engine where it then runs down the back of the engine.

Sorry I’m jumping in this conversation kinda late. For the vehicles with antifreeze dripping at the rear of the engine block you will find a large quantity of antifreeze under the intake manifold. There is a large valley located there; it pools with antifreeze. Then when you accelerate, or park nose up on an incline, the fluid runs down the back of the motor. Where is it coming? At the front of the intake manifold there is an item called the “Water-Crossover”. This is where your thermostat, and thermostat housing, mount to. Also, the water-crossover mounts to the manifold. Well, it’s made out of plastic. Between age, overheating, etc., it can fail, and cause the mounting surface (which includes a grooved section that houses an O-ring to prevent coolant leaks) to “blowout). At which point your antifreeze will leak out from the “Underside” of the manifold, and water- crossover, making it hard to find the point of origin. Shine a flashlight under the manifold... you might find anti-freeze.

Guru6P8BF... You likely have rear heat/ av I’m guessing. You have an issue with your rear heating unit. It’s mounted on the rear right side of the vehicle. Kinda a pain to get to... rear seat, right side rear panel, rear right pillar trim, rear floor jack access cover, and upper center trim piece all have to be removed (if I remember correctly the seatbelt anchor needs to be removed as well to get the right side panel off) to get to that HVAC unit. Once inside you should be able to track down your leak either to repair, or possibly replace the item giving you trouble.
I have an 03 expedition and I also have a leak from the passenger rear of the engine block. I used a mirror and it appears to be coming from the back of the head. Soonish I am going to take it apart and see if it is just the gasket or a warped head.
Dragonary, Before you pull the head be sure to check for coolant pooling under the intake. If so, it may be coming from a crack that occurred on the plastic intake. Or, a warped/ blown gasket, seated between where the intake manifold, and water crossover pipe mounting surfaces meet. See my pics in the above posts. Worth checking before you pull the head.
