Won’t stay running

Asked by Guru5WMKD Jan 02, 2018 at 11:04 AM about the 1994 GMC Sierra 1500 C1500 SLE Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck just shut off at stop sign but was able to get
over to nearest parking lot. It would then start and
idle for about 30-45 seconds and then shut off
again. If I tried to give it gas while Ideling it would
shut down sooner. Also noticed that the  fuel gauge
all a sudden is not working when it does idle.
Thinking may be a fuel pres/reg issue, any help is
appreciated.

in my opinion your on the right track with it being a fuel issue. possible fuel pump and sending unit, also fuel pressure. can you hear the fuel pump run when just turning the key to the on position but not cranking it over? the idleing for 30 to 45 seconds sound to me like a bad fuel pump. will it just idle for 30 seconds and shut off each time you try and start it..? any more info might help to point you in the right direction to troubleshoot.
