Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I live in the Seattle area and I'm driving to Mammoth Mountain in California. I haven't yet put Studded tires on since this is my first winter having this car and I'm wondering if I should since I'm going through mountain passes?!?!? Any suggestions?????

I would skip studs all together and get a set snow specific tire. They are better on snow and mixed road surfaces. I have had amazing results with Bridgestone Blizzaks and Nokian Hakkapallittas. Even on the icy hills in Seattle from a dead stop my Subaru will pull right up. People always look in amazement. And to answer your question specifically no they will not hurt your car .
