gas gauge and info board do not match up . the info guide says one thing and the gauge another

The gas gauge tells what fractional portion of the gasoline is left, like 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full tank or 20 gallons. The information center says nothing about gallons of gas. However, it will estimate how far you can go on gas that's left based on your most recent MPG's. Now if your odometer on the dash and the one overhead don't match up numbers, it's because they were not reset at the same time.
