Transfer case

I have a 2004 grand cherokee laredo 4.0l  
4x4 and was wondering if someone can tell
me how you can tell if an acuator is bad or if
the transfer case is going bad...ty

The transfer case is always engaged. You are most likely referencing not being able to select low range. If that's the case you will need to have the TCU reflashed by the dealer.
