Very cold temperatures...are they to blame for hood not closing properly?

My hood had this issue and I fixed it about a month ago (04 forester). The hood release part of the switch was hanging up and not allowing the hood to lock into place. As the hood hook would fall into place, the release action would lag and it wouldn't lock. You can use wd-40 (I think I used carb cleaner) to loosen it up but you'll want white lithium or some long lasting lube. I used some lube for my motorcycle chain on it and it was an instant fix. If you find something different come on back with details.
