Help service battery charging system

Have a 2006 Chevy Impala 3.5 L and it just today in the last
few hours the service battery charging system light came
on prior to the first ownership of this car I've never had a
light come on before now battery and alternator and
starter are eating just fine what do I do

Have the alternator and battery tested. How do you know they are eating just fine?
