There is no separate Vollage regulator,it’s part of the alternator

That sounds like the wires in between. Might need new cables.

We are having a similar issue with our 2012 Traverse. Did you resolve the issue of your Impala?

I am now going through the same problem everyone else here is having does anyone have any updates I have replaced my battery as well as the alternator

On my 2012 Impala this problem was caused by a broken fusible link located on the heavy copper wire (red insulation) connecting the alternator with the battery’s positive terminal. The link is enclosed within a black plastic case labeled “200”. Just verify that this red colored wire is in good shape to eliminate this possible cause. I soldered, pop riveted and taped it to make the repair.

I'm having this also, but it is accompanied by two other messages. "Engine Power Is Reduced" & "Starting Disabled Service Throttle". I just had the alternator replace as the shop said it was producing enough as I was driving. I have a 2009 Impala.

I have a 2014 impala limited, same problem found out is a sensor, supposed to be located around the positive (red cable) near the post, mine is located on the negative and also is directional, so I'm still trying to verify that!!!

2010 Chevy Impala 3.5 L 3 alternators 3 batteries and now we're on the floor due to the fact that it keeps reading service charging system battery saver light signals off alternator is Good batteries are good we still can't solve the problem it occurred again today any suggestions besides changing the positive and negative battery cables which I will do when she arrives home but can you give me any other suggestions on fuses or anything located that might have blown

Verify that the fusible link is intact on red heavy wire from the alt to the battery. It is covered by a plastic housing.

My nephew has a 2008 Impala, Having the same charging battery system notification issue. After looking under the hood, I popped the fuse box and checked the number 40 fuse for the battery. Took it out, put it back in, and fired up the car. The notification on the dash went away

I have the same issue with my 2011 impala. Replaced battery, and the vehicle had no power to anything. Before I changed the battery, autozone tested the alternator and said it was fine. I can’t find the fusible link at all. There are three routes the alternator cable takes before reaching the battery so I’m looking for a needle in a haystack here.

The link would be on the heaviest wire directly connecting the alternator and the positive battery terminal. Disconnect one end of that wire and check it’s continuity. If that is good, you have a different problem; perhaps a blown fuse.

I have an 2006 impala and the battery is good alt is good but when it cranks the battery light is on an says "service battery charging system" well today put a new battery in an tried to drive home but my whole dash board lightknv auit working as well as my radio. I have a fusible link traveling from the alt down to the throttle body as well as the air filter, but there is one more that has no home an i dont know where it goes. Please help

Currently having the same problem. Accompanied by service stabilizing track, traction control too! Help!!!! The battery and alternator have been replaced too! It seems to jerk when I'm driving with all these notifications flashing across dash.

Please check the electrical harness close to the AC compressor on the left side (and down low) of the engine compartment. I had a 2007 that was showing all kinds of codes, lurching while driving, door locks erratic, all kinds of weird activity. All caused by electrical harness that had detached from its straps and was bumping into and rubbing on the AC compressor while driving. It’s a darker area so it’s easy to overlook. Just verify integrity of the wiring to eliminate this potential cause.

Battery charging sensor needs to be around both positive cables. Car is thinking battery is dead because sensor is telling it that the amps are too high, therefore putting out more amps and cutting accessories off.

I have a 2012 impala. It just suddenly says service charging system and the battery light comes on. But when advance auto checked the alternator guy said that it was over charging the battery. However, when I get to about 70 mph the battery light goes off and the message no longer appears. But when it slows down or idles the message and light is back on and an hour later the battery saver message comes on and 5 to 10 minutes after that, the car needs a jump start.

the harness between the battery and alternator might need replaced

Abby is correct: check the harness, open the small plastic case midpoint on the length of the positive cable from the alt to the positive battery post. The enclosed link is most likely just hanging on by a thread.

I have a 2014 Impala with new Bat and new starter and still no crank at all and only getting the "check charging system" light on when i try to crank, but that is it. Checked all grounds on charge harness and checking positive cable now, does anyone know if the sensor on the positive cable would make these issues happen? Thank you for any help

I have I do thousand two impala 3.5 L replace the starter or the battery the alternator if you jump it it’ll start and crank if you leave it on somebody else is ready for about 30 minutes it’ll run for about 10 minutes but the Service charging battery system lights on and I cannot figure out what it is can somebody help me with this I’ve read all the stuff above it and I can’t find an answer

Figured it out some one else did the starter work and crossed the wires!!! Yay

When the wires were crossed, did your car start normally, and then it wouldn’t start as the battery died?

My 2007 Impala had the same thing going on- "Check charging system" light came on. Battery was good. Alternator was good. Nobody knows what it is. Then the "service stabilization" light came on, it spurts and jumps, the ac goes off... this had happened twice over the past 3 years and we have so much done to it but nothing ever fixed it. I took GuruXM6TK's advice- I told them to check the wire harness system. Low and behold, my dash board is clear of all signals, and it runs beautifully again!! It wasn't cheap, as I had the mechanic do it, but it was far cheaper than buying another car. Dude, your advice was right on the nose!!!

Hi guys. I’m having the same problem. I have a 2009 traverse. Service battery charging system light came on n auto zone tested n said I had a bad battery. My husband put in a new battery that night, went to leave the next morning and every time I accelerate the gauge bogs down to around 10-11 amps. Also, the light comes on n gauge dips at an idle too. The alternator was replaced last year and no codes are being thrown. Alternator was checked n is good, batter too. I’m at a loss and am scared I will break down with my young son on the sidebar of the road. Any suggestions?

I have a 09 impala with the 3.5 ..i had the charging issue and the service charging system message after I replaced the battery and alternator.. Im a mechanic so I poked around a little ..my problem ended up being the the plug in connector wasn't getting good connection so I bought a pigtail for it, replaced the connector and problem solved ..i hope this helps someone out

Mine does the same. 2010 seems to only have the issue when the car charger is hooked up. Do yall have cellphone chargers connected?

ALTERNATOR BROKEN LINK UPDATE: if you find the link broken in the heavy red covered wire from the alternator, please replace it with an appropriate substitute to protect the charging/electrical system. In the event of a short or faulty circuit, without a fuse in place the amperage from the alternator could easily lead to severe damages or fire.
