How does one start a class-action suit against Toyota for poor technology design, namely, irreparable or frequent check engine issues. Who can afford hundreds of dollars annually for advanced tech?

There will never be a class-action lawsuit against Toyota for those issues. For a class-action many people have to have the same problem and yours is an anomaly. The 2005 Corolla is one of if the most reliable, dependable cars on the road.... the 1.8L 1ZZ FE is a proven engine. I am truly sorry you got one of the very rare anomalies

Uhhh, it's a 2005. Find someone who actually knows what they are doing to fix it. Usually the mechanics are to blame for not properly diagnosing and repairing problems. FordNut is correct, the 2005 Toyota Corolla is one of the most reliable cars recently made.
