05 equinox started making a soft honing noise after release brake and push gas pedal and now engine light came on

How is an eight year old SUV still under warranty? What is a "soft honing noise"?

You're right ten, lost track of which millenium it was--must be a machinist, who else would know what a 'honing noise' would be? Sounds like a dragging brake, foul slides...engine light? gas cap off? so it's not under warranty, he's still has to bring it in to have the 'check engine' lite dealt with.
