2000 Ford F150 6cyl won't start when it rains?

Asked by GuruPZ5R May 04, 2017 at 12:06 PM about the 2000 Ford F-150 XL LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought it - ran great. I washed it at a car wash. It wouldn't start for about
an hour. It would crank but not turn over. I didn't get the engine wet - just
washed the outside. Ran great after that (it was dry). It rained last night and
same thing. Truck will crank but not start. What gives? Please help! Thanks.

I would check the ECU connections for moisture and also check the spark plugs wires and the coil pack connections for moisture. Use dielectric grease to seal out moisture.

It’s definitely one of two things your distributor cap or plug wires or both are wet inside so cap is cracked or the rubber vent on it is clogged or wet. Or the computer is not opening the injectors or turning fuel pump on or off or both. It’s one of the two wires and plugs and distributor or computer
