what could make this happen

the other day i was going down the road and my truck just died. It tried to turn it back on
and it didnt do nothing. But when we hooked it up to some battery cables and it turned
over but did not start. I checked my fuel pump and it was good but i dont know what it could
be

Check for the basics first. Spark, fuel(which has been checked), and air/compression. Take the sparkplugs out and check the condition. Make sure the cylinders are holding compression because otherwise the truck would run badly. If there are any dash lights on, bring it to a shop and have them scan it for thrown codes. It could be something as simple as a line popping off.
