So my trucks check engine light was flashing but when I checked the things
that could be caused by it everything was fine. Also my temperature never got
hotter. What could it be?

Did you scan for the trouble codes? A flashing CEL will tell you there are codes stored. Scan using a OBDii code scanner or have an auto part store scan it for free. A flashing light usually indicates misfires.
Yes, a flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. This may not set a hard trouble code immediately though. I had that problem with my 03 S10. If you have over 100,000 miles on the vehicle you're due for a tune up. Replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires. If you have the V6 replace the distributor cap and distributor rotor too. That may solve the problem. Hope that helps! Jim
