can't reset security system after replacing ignition switch and key lock clydender

My moms 01 ignition cylinder locked up and key would not turn.I replaced switch and key
lock cylinder and went through security system reset but engine will not turn over.Tried
several times but same results.will removing codes solve this or is there something else I
need to do?

I had to do this on the 97 Pontiac Bonneville. Unhook the battery for about 5 min. Reconnect. Turn key to RUN position, DO NOT TRY TO TURN OVER... VERY IMPORTANT, RUN position only, do not attempt to turn over. Leave in run position for 20 minutes. Then turn off and try to start the car. A little reset they fail to share with you. I spent weeks in chat rooms to find this bit of info, found it in one of the Pontiac clubs.

Mark, Thanks for the suggestion,unfortunately, it did not work on this car. I have heard from others the problem is in the starter system because there isn't even a click when key is turned to crank position. On we go.
