I,m doing a 2002 tranny swap and was told 6.5 quarts and this info is from the Haynes repair manual. the dealer says any where from 6-10 litres should fill tranny and torque converter.

Just changed fluid, filter, governor pressure solenoid and sensor yesterday.. Ended up taking about 6 and a half quarts and it's right at the max mark while warm and running in neutral. . I worry that it's too much fluid in there.. I read somewhere that it should be between the ADD and MAX lines but I'm guessing it'll be ok as long as it's not over the max line.. My tranny started shifting hard all of a sudden one day. With 126000 miles on it I figured it needed some new fluid and filter and I went ahead and replaced the solenoid and sensor while I was doing it. It shifts a whole out smoother now and seems to be quieter also..
