Headlights not working

Asked by Brian_henderson69 Mar 25, 2020 at 09:40 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the battery in my
Suburban and about 30 min
after I changed it, my
headlight stopped working.
All other lights work
normaly, only my headlights
went out  then after about a
week of them being out
they just all of a sudden
came back on then about a
month later they went out
again and haven't came
back on it's been 2 months
now. I drive it everyday, and
at night using my offroad
lights. I have changed my
fuses and the relay I have
put all new headlights in
and they still dont work I
cant even get them to
flicker unless I touch a
ground directly to the
headlight its self on the
electrode then they will
come on dimly with no high
beam control. Please if
anyone can help I would
greatly appreciate it .

On this vehicle, the power flows from the "TBC" fuse to the headlight switch. The headlight switch provides power to the headlight relay control coil. When you switch headlights on the control coil in the relay energizes and moves the contacts closed. Power then flows through the contacts and to the headlights. From there, the ground circuit goes through a junction block on the left side of the engine compartment (look for a yellow wire for the low beam ground). From the junction block, ground goes back to dimmer section of the headlight switch (again on a yellow wire). From the dimmer section, ground goes to splice 203 on the left side of the dash before terminating at ground #202. Check for ground at all those locations. Somewhere in that ground circuit you've got an intermittent open
