Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ran to the store in my 2005 Dodge ram, hemi motor. Came out of the store and it wouldn't start. A red flashing light was on to the right of the speedometer. No other lights would come on. After a bit some of the dash lights started flickering.

Well, that was weird. It was the battery needing replacement. The flashing red light was the security light. Don't know why all the lights were flickering like that, but once the new battery was in there was no problem.

Check for corrosion on the battery terminals. Also check the alternator and cables to make sure they're secure. It sounds like you were running on just the battery and the alternator wasn't charging properly.

All those checked out. The battery hadn't ever been changed, was 7+ years old and when I tried to jump it the battery wouldn't hold enough of a charge to turn the starter. So I hope it was only the battery. If it does it again I will check the alternator again. Thanks for the response.

HELP I have dash lights flickering like crazy, from the air bad light, the RDNP light flickers, everything. The seat belt dings, all will go off, come back on and flicker. It doesn't want to start. New starter was put in. Could it still be the battery? 2004 dodge hemi 5.7 had it to the mechanic numerous times already.
