My truck was low on trans oil for awhile and I didn't notice then I added some, it's been awhile now but in the morning when I crank it up it knocks sounds like it's at the transmission area,

Asked by DavidRains Feb 09, 2015 at 03:38 PM about the 2006 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It doesn't sound like a stuck lifter cause it
doesn't tick it just knocks for a min. Is there
any chemicals I can try before I spend
money on getting expert opinions then
spend alot getting it fixed? It has to be
something on crank shaft or bad
transmission but transmission seems to be
shifting fine and all. Any ideas

Engine size? Miles? Recent engine oil change?

Do some reading at the link. Some Fords knock on start up when using non Motorcraft or cheap filters. Not sure if this issue carries over to a Dodge though. http://www.ramforum.com/f44/4_7_cold_start_warm_tapping_noise- 22127/
