drivers side front door

i have a 2002 vw passat. the drivers side front door will open from the outside but not the inside.

you'll have to pull off the door panel and more than likley replace the cable that connects the inside door handle to the door latch. I know you can get a used on the web cheep

how do you know the cable is bad or broken? mine looks just like the used one I got.

It could be a plastic clip at either end of the rod or cable has broken, or the rod/cable has gone bad. Lastly, the mechanism itself has gone bad. Its a typical issue on older vehicles.

Thanks Giulio but I figured out the problem minutes after posting my question. I found that the cable was a tad too loose/stretched to where it was not openning the door latch when the handle is pulled. So I simply adjusted the cable slack by pushing the cable through the outer sleeve into the metal door panel about a half inch. I put back the outer finish door panel and the handle now worked as it should.
