Is it possible your shop did not reset the oil life indicator when they changed your oil in July? I would reset it now and just have the next oil change done at the mileage you think is correct for your car.

The reminder is a calculation based on your driving, not just the miles. I recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles instead of using the oil change nanny.

Even with atrocious driving habits, it should not come on at 400 miles. I think they just forgot to reset it. I agree with FOR, 5,000 miles is a good number for your car and it one of the most important maintenance items you can do to keep it going for a long time. How many miles are on the odometer?

Change the oil at 69-70K and check that the the oil monitor has been reset when you leave.
