My 1996 chevy truck has a oil leak when running looks like coming between the oil pan and the oil filter adapter any ideas what it could be.

Is it running down from above? May be the value covers, or just the oil filter. Check to make sure there is only one oil ring used on the filter. Sometimes the old one is stuck and not removed. Follow the oil trail and see where it is coming from. If above, it may be a gasket, even the intake manifold may be wrapping. They are made of plastic you know.
