Have a whining noise coming from car when cold. Think it is from back but nor sure. Could be vacum leak issue but not sure.

Sorry ! Noise is high pitched whine sound from rear I think ! Only happens in real cold weather and when you accelerater and decelerate high pitch sounds goes away under 30 km/h which makes me guess rear differential issue. It is all wheel drive. Jag says never has to be changed (fluid) but can't belive that !
No, it shouldn't need to drain and replace for life. This could be the disk brake wear sensor or a wheel bearing. educated guess.
Just because they say the differential oil does not need changing does not make it so. You may have bearings that are starting to go out.
If your weather is extremely cold then the bearings and gears may not be getting proper lubrication until the oil heats up.
