Probably 1500 bucks in labor since, if I'm not mistaken, changing the rear main seal means that the engine needs to be pulled out and torn down to get to the crankshaft. Oil pan needs to be removed as well in order to change the gaskets.

I think is the transmission!! They quote me $900 and 6 hours labor!! That doesn’t sound bad!! Second estimate!

Yes , trasnsmission out for rear main seal! Cost anywhere from $800 to $900 -6 hours work! A $2,500 quote is a rip-off, probably dealerships!!

i was quoted $1750 transmission has to be dropped. i think this is a good shop, vey high tech. i got the car for only $10000 in perfect shape with 83000 miles on a 2001. they cleared a check engine light and ran a smoke test and 19 point check for $64. they come hightly recommended. the car otherwise looks like it just came off showroom (thats a mercedes tranny if it matters)
