04 VW Beetle passenger break light out??

Asked by jpdunlap Feb 26, 2015 at 06:49 PM about the 2004 Volkswagen Beetle GLS 2.0L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Both headlights, parking lights, and tail lights work, I replaced the bulb, the bulb hoster?,
and all the fuses. I've read about it being a wiring or a circuit problem, how would I check
the circuit or wiring without taking everything apart? Dealership in LR is wanting to charge
me $130 for a diagnostic, screw them.

test the bulb socket using a 12 volt test light with the brakes on of course and see if you have power there. if so maybe your new bulb is bad. if not I would suspect the wiring between the 2 brake lights you will have to follow it and see if there are any bad spots or shorts.
