Cachao, the famous cuban bass player...you've got the toggle, mid dash which unlocks everything? my 2006 has this...do you detect an escapement has fallen out?

always feel uncomfortable putting my thumb on the chromey shiny piece to grip the rear boot latch~ but mine will squeeze to release the latch....after the mid-dash toggle has been activated or the transponder key button is pressed...is this not the case with the cooper S?..R52 timing belt engine~

could it be that something got pinched in there impeding the latch travel?...like a cat's tail for example~

looked but didn't see anything caught in it

okay, you still have the transponder key...it still works okay....press the TRUNK button and PUSH the boot closed, then open the latch in the usual fashion...this should do something~

my wife's car don't know that I'd say it's clean and fresh

really don't want you to open 'er up to see the mechanism proper...this usually constitutes planes of hell for you to enjoy...especially cruel now that I'm older and my ability to do this tinker-work....I'll pay MIKE over and bavarian motor works $200/hour to do this job....unless you're a watchmaker...and LIKE this tinker-town boogie~

push it while pressin' the button...eventually it will act normally~ probably out of adjustment a scoach~

my windshield wipers would stop mid stroke...fiddlin' with them put them right...haven't given me any trouble since....this could be "Just one of those things"~~

I have what sounds like the same problem on '08 Mini Cooper S. I pushed the hatch in while pressing the fob, which did seat the hatch properly but the hatch still will not release. I'll have a talk with service and see what I find out. I suspect its an adjustment.
