Towing

Our Durango is a 2009 SLT 4x4, 4.7 liter V8. It does have a tow package on it however we have been told we cannot haul a camper with it because the engine  wouldn't be able to handle it. Is there anything we can do to upgrade the towing ability to avoid buying a different vehicle.

The motor doesn't have anything to do with it till what you are hauling exceeds the weight limit. If you have a 19 foot long camper it will haul it fine.

Towing when_properly_equipped_towing:=What the weight is you can tow/pull 2000 lbs - std= Easy 7000 lbs - max Pushing it SO, about a 5500 trailer will go down the road easy. Make sure you get a lesson on tongue weight Payload_when_properly_equipped_towing:=What you can put in the vehicle 1450 lbs - max
