May be a fuel pressure issue. Could be the fuel regulator or the fuel pump. Some fuel pressure test should be done.
Also the engine light flashing indicates a cylinder miss fire. You should get the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes. This would let you know why the check engine light is flashing. Write down the codes.
