Had Turbo replaced now the truck wont turn over

Asked by Meleray Aug 01, 2016 at 02:21 PM about the 2009 Dodge RAM 3500 Laramie Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had the turbo replaced and when I picked up the truck I had a red
lightening bolt and check gauges light on the dash. Repair guy said it would
clear after 4 or 5 key turns no problem. This was 5pm on a Friday..
Saturday afternoon I end up stuck at a gas station because it will not start..
not even a click! Takes a big truck jumping both batteries at once to get it
running.. volt meter read 14 until he disconnected the jumpers then it
dropped to 8. I managed to get it home, let it run over 45 min, turned it off
and immediately it would not start again. These are batteries bought in
2014, my lights on dash, radio, power windows, everything still come on
and work fine, no dimming at all like you would see with a dead battery.
Found out the shop did not replaced any associated filters or calibrate the
actuator on the new turbo... will this cause this electrical issue? Because
the repair facility is telling me basically Oh well not their issues

You need to get it started and check voltage at the batteries to see if alternator is charging. Maybe they left something loose when the did the turbo repair.
