My 2010 Chevy Aveo keeps stalling and dying? Any help?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2010 Chevy Aveo that I continue have stalling
problems with. This has been going on well over a year
and the dealership has seemed to not be able to figure it
out. When I'm driving it will suddenly stall and the rpm will
run high while I'm pressing on the gas doing like 60 and
then I'll let off to realign myself and it's like it resets it or if I
stomp on the gas, make sure the rpm gauge doesn't hit
the red. Sometimes while idling it will die too but during
both instances it always restarts. I've taken it to the
dealership and they first replaced Catalac Converter, they
checked the fuel pump and air intake and also did a
software update. Neither of these solutions worked. It
feels like as if when your transmission goes out and starts
to stall . For example I'll being like 60mph my foot won't
move from gas petal and it will suddenly lose power/stall
rpm are high as if I'm forcing it to do 60mph now and then
if I let completely off the gas petal or stomp on gas it's like
it restarts or refreshes it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

That is not engine related if ur engine rpms are ramping up but car looses speed, that's the drive system. Depending on mileage, have u had ur transmission serviced
Jasmine, it sounds like your torque converter isn't working correctly, it's slipping and spiking your rpm at speed, yet slowing down mph; and then loads up and kills your engine at idle too. That really sounds like your torque converter is bad.

Here is a picture of a torque converter standard photo not actual but will look similar.
My 2010 aveo does same we recently had the whole head redone and the 02 censor replaced this is the 2 time this has occurred , the shop I take it to I don't think knows and keeps lieing , I can start it right up let it idol to warm up and it will shit off , I can drive any speed and here a clank clank clank sometimes first or just shut off , I would really like to get to bottom of this problem ... so far on this feed there so many different answers ... spark plugs , radiator cap , fuel filter or pump , etc where do you start please help ??
Need more information about how it starts, drives, operates. What it doesn't do is just as important as what it does. Just a lil more info please.
My Chevy aveo shut off when I'm driving

Well need to know what it lost, power to run itself, spark/fire to spark plugs, fuel to fuel injectors. In the meantime check all your fuses under dash and hood. Is the engine turning over at all, does it try to crank at all, give more info and also next time start a new question thread. this thread is a year old and I am likely the only guru to answer you back which may be fine but the others may have a better/faster/more accurate answer (never know its possible).

I'm chasing down the same problem on a 2010 aveo in California rn. I've watched the live data on the scanner that I have and have noticed that the timing advance will jump up to 33° and as low as -17°. My guess is the vvt. Will post again if I figured it out.
Has anyone else figured out what the ruff run stumble shut off no power stalling thing on the 09 Chevy Aveo ?
Check and see if vacuum leak....it will make it do like that to....
I have Chevy Aveo lt 2010 I changed thermastat, coolin line, thermastat houseing, hoses, spark plugs, battery, still doing slow at picking up speed hard starting up and stalls put in idle
I have the same problem. I did 'computer check' in the workshop and the results explained that there was a problem with the camshaft sensor. I replaced it with a new one for US $ 10, and Aveo returned to normal.
