Well I know you can get 20s on the 2010 rams so I'm sure clearance wouldn't be a problem. Your speedometer would not calculate properly and your towing limits would be lower. The larger tires and rims are also harder on your suspension but if you keep an eye on everything and get things inspected instead of waiting til they break costs should be minimal.
Above is true except... If you install with a low profile tire that is similar in diameter and overall cross section width to the originals on the 17s. If so, clearance not an issue and your speedo will not know the difference. However, it will ride harder, load and towing limits will be less like canalbreath stated above. Might look cool, though... Good Luck!
It will look cool, but off-roading or anything to do with having fun in the truck will be gone! the ride quality will suck too!
I have an 08 that came with stock 20" rims and had no trouble throwing a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires on there and taking it offroad. It more than likely has a less comfortable ride than the 17", but it actually gives a little more ground clearance when you are off road.

dose any one know if 2002 17'' dodge ram 1500 rims will my 1997 dodge ram 1500 ?I have 16" right now but im more worried about the lug patt.
I have a 1995 Dodge Ram with a 5 by 5 and 1/2 lug pattern and my dad has a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4 by 4 Hemi and I put his rims on my truck so they'll fit with no problem my 95 Ram was lifted 6 in though the lug patterns are the same
