Hi - just got wife's early 2008 CTS back (33,298 mi.). She told me it had the Check Engine light on solid yellow. I took it in and they said it needs the 3 timing chains and associated parts (seals etc.) in that [3.6 D/I] engine. I got it back and seems to run fine and it only took ONE DAY to repair - that's fast. Also fyi - have had back driver side shock/strut replaced 2 mo. ago (big clunking noise coming from trunk area), and while it was in for chains, was clunking form reaer passenger side -was a strut connecting piece, not the sturt/shock itself. No noises now, all OK. All good so far - will post if something else happens going forward. Regards
I have had this issue ever since my cts hit 90,000 miles. it was in the shop with Cadillac for 8 days the first time then 9 the next. Is this that hard to take car of..??????? Now car still shakes when stopped at light and even got stuck when driving 65 on the frwy. The RPM stuck at 3.... OMG what is going on ......
I have had the same problem with the struts and timing chain. Both replaced and now it seems timing chain is acting up again at 120,000 miles.
I HAVE A 2090 WITH 37,000 AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN.SO MUCH FOR CADILAC QUALITY!!!
They just told me my timing chains need to replace for $2200. Door to connect remote opeing is another $1,200. That's a new car.
Please do not fix the electric coolant pump and cam shaft chain timing situation at a Cadillac dealer!!!! The parts are $158 and replacing chains should retail no more than 900$!!! Look on Craigslist for certified gm mechanics if your warranty has expired. I just went through this where the stupid dealer acted like I should trade in my car and forget fixing it. I had someone change the water pump at my home and P0014 p0024 replaced chains for so cheap in limerick PA.
2014 cad srx timing chain stretch at 78000 miles any one know why? Did anyone else have this problem also I just replaced both catalytic converters and cracked lower arms. I feel I have a lemon. I have faithfully did oil changes at maint at Cadillac dealer. My car would stall or have a kick when accelerating or when speeding up no power sometimes. On 1 of my visits 1 year ago they P code came up and so they did an oil compression test but I did not take it back in the 2000s miles as they as said. Now my extended warranty wont pay for it because they said the problems occurred while under factory warranty and the Factory is saying out of warranty with them and because of me not taking in back within those miles. REALLY PISSED to say the least they want to charge me $3100, to replace the timing chain.
Car' in the shop for the 4th timing chain replacement on my 2008 cts4 makes 5 counting the original. It goes through more chains than tires. The only line this is the top of is in the toilet bowl.
The timing chain problem was caused by insufficent lubrication of the timing chains. GM redesigned the oil filter to increase flow by decreasing the amount of filter material inside the filter. The new Delco filter is PF62e.
What are the symptoms of the Timing Belt needing change?
My 2007 CTS doesn’t run smooth although I could live with that, but it won’t pass inspection on the emission end until the timing chains are replaced. The mechanic said it would be a 12 hr job, very costly. I wonder if there is a recall on hose since there are so many complaints.
I have a 2008 Cadillac CTS in the Cadillac dealers now getting the timing chain replaced, 68,000 miles....$2500. No symptoms at all other than the check engine light coming on intermittently.
