Question type: Maintenance & Repair

hello. my 2001 530i stalled, didnt start, eventually started and accelerated
to around 4000 rpms, with lots of blueish smoke out the pipe. upon
inspection i realized it was running dry on oil. after adding 4 qt of oil i drove
it and it smoked for 2 miles, but next 20 miles car barely smokes and still
no check engine light or any warning lights. im wondering if permanent
damage has been done? can it be checked relatively easy? what would it
cost to rebuild? im in massachusetts. thanks

update- after driving for 50 miles today, check engine light came on and car does smoke especially if driven 30 mph+. not constantly, but smells bad. barely noticeable if just idling.
