Starter sticks

Asked by eisen Jan 22, 2013 at 11:14 AM about the 2003 BMW 5 Series 525i Sedan RWD

Question type: General

Sometimes the starter will stick and I will have to go and manually rotate the starter by jumping the hot to the solenoid and after a few times I can start the car. Now this only happens once in a wyle.

Have you ever check to see if you are getting voltage to the starter on the small wire that you are jumpering? It sounds like your starter is good and the problem could be with your ignition switch.

This can happen from a weak/failing battery, if you are sure your battery is good and nothing is causing a slow discharge then it is likely the starter relay
