My daughter purchased a 2012 Kia Sportage EX does it take synthetic oil and how often should it be changed I told her every 5000 miles is that correct

you can use any kind of oil- if you want to keep it a long time, use the synthetic- change regular oil every 3,000 miles- the synthetic can wait for 5,000- but really, engines are expensive, why not just change the oil, no matter what it is, every 3K- if it was me, I wouldn't plan on keeping a Kia for 20 years, so I would use the regular oil-

You are throwing your money away if you change it at 3,000 miles.follow the guidelines in the book which says 7,500 miles
