Can the valve lash be adjusted on a Dodge 2.0 16 valve motor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know someone who asked me if I could adjust the valve lash in there car
because at a cold start the valves are very loud and as the motor warms
up it some what goes away, so I would like to know if they are adjustable
and what the clearance should be and also the sequence of adjusting
them, meaning at tdc what intake and exhaust valves to adjust and then
at 180 degrees what would be the remaining valves to adjust.

Thanks for any info!

no the sohc does not have adjustable lash, the only thing you can do is buy a new set of rockers to help quiet valve noise down. The lifters/lash caps are built into the rockers on the sohc

Chances are pretty good that what you're hearing is piston slap, not valve train noise. The valve train is not adjustable.
