2012 subaru forester excessive oil consumption short block replacement

Asked by GuruSS85N May 30, 2019 at 03:45 PM about the 2012 Subaru Forester 2.5X

Question type: General

my short block was replaced 700 miles ago.  700 miles later, no oil on the
dipstick.  what have other owners experienced after receiving new short blocks
for excessive oil consumption.  any suggestion  for getting subaru to honor
class action lawsuit and solve the problem.

Take it back to the dealer! They are not going to "solve" the problem which would mean an engine redesign or at least redesigning the pistons and rings. The best you can do is hope for an engine that does not use excessive amounts of oil. I am on my 3rd engine and it uses oil but I can live with it (1 quart in 1,500 to 2,000 miles).
