2013 Dodge Caravan SXT Overheating issue
Asked by Shaun Dec 14, 2016 at 01:27 AM about the 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2013 Caravan temperature keeps going up to past 1/2 mark and as it gets
to 3/4 it goes right back down. Ive replaced thermostat, coolant temp sensor,
fan resistor. It is not leaking coolant. Checked the radiator and pressure tested
and no leaks. Running out of options

1 - May not be a problem if you are sitting in traffic. 2 - Have the Gauge check by a technician to make sure the gauge is reading properly 3 - If all else is considered normal go have your coolant flushed with a machine the does a reverse back flow - May have a restricted Heater core and/or Radiator Good Luck
You may want to clean the front of of you radiator realky good with a goid heavy duty cleaner, it could be clogged with debris and bugs not allowing for good air flow...
How did you find resolution? I have a similar problem...
I have same problems I put new thermostat Radiator cap Engine fan Fan resistor Flush the problem was not fixed

Same problem here. Replaced thermostat an radiator cap, pressure checked system...still climbing to 3/4 gauge before dropping back down
The answer for doing a backflush of the radiator seems like the best answer to the yes you. My local Jiffy Lube charges $129.99 for the service so I will have that done in a couple weeks and post back on here if it resolves the issue.
Did you ever resolve this problem? Mine is now doing the same thing. 2013 Caravan
Also notice this usually only happens when the air is on my 2014 GC goes up to about 3/4 the mark while driving I turn the heater on let it blow the it cools back down.. someone told me one of two issues and mind you I live in AZ so it’s hot here: 1) the radiator and fan are to small for this vehicle and if replaced that should solve it 2) check you cabin filters and the coils behind it if they are clogged you van isn’t breathing.. I have replaced the thermostat, radiator hoses had the flushes etc and it still does it. When it’s cool outside I don’t have this issue only when it’s hot out.. Any other ideas??
crazy, mines doing same thing n I've only had car one year from dealership! when turning on AC it got hot! I fixed it though!!! I put step in oil and gas, also put antifreeze in radiator, it says no water only antifreeze lol!!! I think there were leaves in the AC fan!!!
