1999 Dodge Durango Computer Issue?

Asked by woodman82 May 21, 2018 at 11:20 AM about the 1999 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Here is my concern.. I have a 1999 Dodge Durango 5.2 4x4 and it usually
starts up quick and strong. I drove it around on Mother's day and at the end
of the day when I tried to start the car, it acted like it was completely dead,
the radio came on and the only thing that it did was the speedometer needle
jumped up and then back to zero. I put a jumper pack on thinking that was
the issue, but to no avail. I waited 20 minutes to the same result. My last
attempt before getting it towed home was to put it in Neutral and try to start
the car, which it finally did.
I tested the battery, starter and alternator both with and with out load and
they are all strong readings. Could the infrequent starting issues be the
computer possibly. The durango has 275,450 on it, so I've had a great run so
far......

Thanks for any help

Maybe the problem is in the coil, check to see if you have spark.
