Young Age Car with High Highway Miles

Hello, we are shopping for a car for our daughter, a
first time driver. We looked into the car sites and
good choices for safety. We found a 2013 Subaru
Forester, which is younger than we were thinking.  
Selling price is about $7k. The car is in very good
shape but only downside is that it has almost 200k
miles, almost all highway.  Is this car worth is
considering?  Overall better condition than we
could have hoped but the mileage...

I would pass unless they can document a new transmission installed recently. A new one would cost you over 7 grand and it is a minor miracle that a CVT has lasted that long. Unless your daughter only drives a hundred miles a week or less she would probably wear out any car with limited life left in it.
