when installing a new ECM module or tcm module what is the proper sequence to power up battery?

plug backup in,ground your self to the car at all times,take neg. cable off battery, change ecm, cable back on, backup off, turn car on and let it sit for 5-30 minutes (depending on how picky the ecm is), and drive it around to retaech it. this should do it, but cross check this with the dealer to make sure"ecms arent cheap".

mostly understood except for your first three words..."plug backup in" which you also refer to later..."backup off" what is this referring to please clarify......and thanks for your help

youre temparaly disconnecting and rececnnecting the battery for your memory of the car and something as little as a slite stattick charge can fry you new ecm. its mainly safety.
