Ford focus 2014 hatchback trunk Won't open

Asked by Dean Aug 22, 2021 at 10:14 PM about the 2014 Ford Focus SE Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I've tried to use the trunk open button on the front, on
the keyfob, and the rear button all resulting with a click but
not a full click of it unlatching. A lil earlier it also displayed
the message that the rear compartment was open, I
couldn't pop it then either but I pushed it closed and now
the message doesn't display but the trunk still wouldn't
open. I tried to find an emergency release but I couldn't find
one, maybe Hatchbacks don't come with that option? Any
help would be great, thanks.

Sounds like the latch needs to be lubed up or the actuator is not functioning to unlock it.
