Have you noticed if it has oil pressure first thing when you start it till the engine warms up? If so sounds like cam bearings.
I had not luck changing from a petroleum base oil to a synthetic oil with a lot of miles on my motor, she finally crapped out. Should of stayed with the oil I was using. But now you have a problem. First thing to do is check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to verify oil pressure, you may find there is not a problem, and just need the oil pressure sending unit changed.
Theses motors have a problem with the pickup tube. They start to suck a little air. The oil pan has to be dropped to change it. Lots of things can cause this from low oil level to a worn out motor. But I've seen many fixed with the pickup tube/screen
