Power Liftgate Not Responding

The power liftgate on our 2014 Nissan Murano stopped functioning suddenly.
The liftgate does not respond to any button or fob and no motor sound is
heard upon pressing them. It can only be open manually by climbing in the
back, removing the latch cover and operating the latch by hand.
Upon removing the back door panel, I noted two things that seem off to me
(see picture for details):
1) what looks like a broken fuse to the right side of the liftgate motor
2) a component that seems broken in the liftgate assembly

Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know what those things are
and whether they are broken?

I was also told that it can be a computer thing where the onboard computer
does not register the car in park and therefore won't activate the liftgate
circuit. My cheap little scanner has not registered any error codes but maybe
I'd need something fancier.
If you have any experience with this one, do you know how to get the
computer to register park?
