1972 vw beetle oil leak

Asked by Sbd_18 Jun 05, 2019 at 12:13 AM about the 1972 Volkswagen Beetle Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 1972 vw beetle 1600cc
with over sized pistons and jugs and it leaks
oil like crazy from the crank pulley when
idling. There is very little blow by and nothing
clogging the motor to create high pressure.
We thought the pulley might be wore and not
sealing around the crankshaft so we got a
new one but it didn’t help. Can anyone tell
me how to fix this please?

you probably have bad rings on your pistons. i had a 69 and 71 yeeeeerz ago. not bad cars... as long as you kept at 55.
