ABS light and brake issues
Asked by Tom Jun 30, 2018 at 10:37 AM about the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My abs light and traction light has been coming on
for the past month. It usually comes on after I've
been driving for ten minutes. I also feel that could
be described as grinding in the brake pedal.
Yesterday I lost the ability to brake completely.
When I tried pushing the pedal it felt like
something was pushing back.
I know I need to check or possibly replace one or
more of the speed sensors. Does anyone have any
other solutions?
This is a 2 year old Jeep, brake pads are still good,
e brake still works (as I found out yesterday).

Your inner pad may be wearing more but you cannot see that without caliper removal. Untreated brake components such as the caliper and bracket are high rust areas and get crusty quickly. It sounds like the push back from the pedal may be a result of air in the lines. Would inspect brake hoses and calipers for leaks. There also may be an additional brake pad wear sensor to inspect or replace. Some have and some don't. After you bleed the brakes (which I hope you do) take it for a short road test on some back streets before putting the vehicle back on the main road. I am sure you will be happy you did. Good Luck
Did you happen to find out the solution to the problem? My 2007 jeep wrangler is having the exact problem you described, I lost my brakes completely yesterday for a minute before they kicked in.
Having the same problem. Mine is 2016. Hope someone figured it out exactly. But will be making my husband check out my brake lines, and everything else stated.
^For me the problem was fixed by replacing the ABS brake sensors
I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, replaced front pads , flushed the breaks , replaced the wheel sensor , at least the one shown to be defective by scanner and still have the ABS / Track lights and grinding brake pedal push back on and off every 45 minutes or so. The dealership instructed to bring it back when the lights show again , I did , by the time I got there the ABS lights disappeared again. Any ideas ??? If the dealer can’t figure it out , the n who ???
