Was driving fine, suddenly slowed, made a whining noise, came to a stop but still engine running. Will run for about 1/4 mile when restarted, but happens again.

My 2001 Honda Civic is running but only goes about1/4 mile before it coasts to a stop..still running but won't move, loud whine when I step on gas..if I shut it down, it'll run again but same thing continues happening. Can anyone give me advice please? 1 Answer

i have a 04 honda civic i drive everyday went to work this morning no problem.. when i tried leaving work car starts up every time but after 2 seconds if that it dies out... also tried holding down pedal and rpm goes up but still dies out and can hear like putty noise from exhaust fuel pump sounds like its working and i can see from engine it shoots out.... what can this be? 1 Answer
