I own a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4L Eddie Bauer. The fuel pump went out and have been replaced. Before I replaced it, I had to hit the fuel tank to get it to start but after it started, it ran and drove great. Now I have replaced the fuel pump AGAIN with another new one, it won't accelerate. I have to press the accelerator like it's ann egg in order to get it to even pick up speed. What do you think is the problem? I'm at my end with this truck!!!!

I will assume that you changed the fuel filter when you changed the pump. Have the fuel pressure tested, and have your injectors tested.
I have replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter everytime I've replaced the fuel pump. I had the fuel system pressure tested and the first pump on gave 10 psi and the second one gave 30 but decreased under acceleration to about 5-7 psi. The injectors were tested and tested good. I did have a check engine light come on and the code was both oxygen sensors. I was then told it was because the engine is starving for gas.
Okay. I finally replaced the fuel pump with a different type and manufactor and waa laa, IT RUNS GREAT AGAIN. It was tbe fuel pump. The two bad pumps came from a national parts place that I won't mention right now. This fuel pump maintains 30-35 psi at idle and goes up to 35-40 psi under very little acceleration. Thank you mikeatpriestlake for your help and advice.

you are welcome. i cant tell you the amount of times that i have gotten bad new parts. really frustrating. there are those that say you should always buy oem parts. maybe they have a good idea.
I used to have a mechanic that would tell me "New babies die". Brutal but got the point across.
