Asked by Brandyn Nov 01, 2016 at 05:31 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Cheyenne LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, I have a 98 Chevy 1500 half ton 4x4 and one
day I was driving and and it just started making an
awful noise. I had it parked for months and the
other day I was messing with it and put it in 4 wheel
drive and it started moving but won't move in 2?
What's my issue?

Check rear differential to see if it's stripped. If ok, remove driveshaft and put it back on 2wd and see if u can see transmission shaft rotating,. If it doesn't rotate, you have a transfer case problem
